Deciem started trading in the year 2013 and has since then promised Clinical Formulations with Integrity not just in their most popular brand The Ordinary, but also to Hylamide, Niod, Fountain and so much more. By producing products that are all free of parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, animal oils, coal tar dyes, formaldehyde, mercury, oxybenzone — you are rest assured of safety and of impressive results.
Sure, you may not be familiar with these ingredients, but note that those are the most harmful ingredients present in most skincare products available in the market. By veering away from such practice, Deciem definitely puts their products several notches higher as compared to other beauty brands — making them market leaders and every beauty consumer’s cult favourite.
But more than that, they prioritize the welfare of animals too by not testing on them and not selling their brands in countries that allow and require animal testing. I do not know about you, but I think you get the best of both worlds — good skin and saving Mother Earth!
Everything they do is extraordinarily ordinary! (Pun-intended, there.) With very simple and clean packaging and direct to the point product names, it is just quite ordinary, right? But because they are high-performing results in making your skin its best version, they are surely not messing you around.

Years ago, effectivity of beauty brands were anchored on false marketing by having sky-rocketing price points and being present in major distribution channels. Before, effectivity meant expensive and popular. But today, quality and authenticity make beauty brands last in the industry. And Deciem sure did not fall short on today’s market needs — sensibly priced, environmental-friendly and of course, inclusive of all skin problems.
By Deciem’s choice to go the route of educating beauty the right way and by making every beauty consumer unendingly curious, they are sure here to stay far longer than anyone would expect. For starters, let me share to you some of my favourites from Deciem:
This water-based serum from The Ordinary has Niacinamide or Vitamin B3 that reduces the appearance of skin problems like blemishes, redness, enlarged pores, congestion, uneven tone, and oily skin. A high 10% concentration of this vitamin is supported in the formula by zinc salt to balance visible aspects of sebum activity.
This water-based serum from The Ordinary targets multiple signs of aging like fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots. This also helps recover skin from dehydration, dullness, and texture problems. Its formula combines a comprehensive array of studied technologies to target multiple signs of aging at once in a base of 11 skin-friendly amino acids and multiple hyaluronic acid complexes.
This water-based exfoliating mask from The Ordinary targets acne, uneven skin tone, and texture, as well as the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. With 30% alpha hydroxy acids, this mask exfoliates the skin’s topmost surface for a brighter and more even appearance. Its beta hydroxy acids also exfoliate the skin with an extended function to help clear pore congestion. This formula contains a studied Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of plant origin and varies in colour seasonally and this colour variation may be apparent in the formula from time to time.
This mild exfoliating serum from The Ordinary has 5% formulation of Lactic Acid that gently reveals new skin underneath. It promotes a bright, even skin tone with a smooth texture. With a purified Tasmanian Pepperberry on this serum, it helps reduce signs of inflammation and sensitivity that is often associated with exfoliation.
